Soprano/Piano/Keyboards, Musical Director/Arranger
Amy Fredericks studied piano, accompanying and theory with Madelon Croskell in St. Louis, receiving an award as a HS Junior from the Beethoven Society at University of Illinois, Carbondale in 1988. She was the State Solo Piano Winner in 1988 and 1989 for the Missouri Music Teachers Association Honors Auditions, and studied with Daniel Schene at Webster University, St. Louis, and Dr. Marie Garritson at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, earning her B.A. degree from Principia in 1995.
Ms. Fredericks is currently Arranger/Musical Director for the Count Basie Awards for Excellence in High School Performance since its inception in 2006, and Musical Director for the Ashley Lauren Foundation, a charity which raises funds to help families of children suffering from cancer. Amy also works for Cabaret for Life, having served as musical director for three of their productions. In 2011, Amy joined David Meenan and the Royale Orchestra as pianist for such programs as "Sing Sing Sing" and "Deck the Halls" performing in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Amy's past roles as a soprano include Angelina in Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury, Emma Jones in Street Scene and solo appearances in Handel's Messiah, (Pollack Auditorium, West Long Branch) Mozart Requiem (First United Methodist Church, Red Bank), Bach's Christmas Cantata and Britten's Ceremony of Carols (Two River Theatre, Red Bank). In 2008 and 2009 she appeared in the regional theatre productions "One Night on Broadway" in Millstone and Red Bank, NJ
Ms. Fredericks has worked as musical director for Shore Regional HS productions of Over Here (2009) Gypsy (2010) Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2011), and Annie Get Your Gun (2012) . NJ Theater Group's Annie (2010) Axelrod Arts Secret Garden (2007), Oliver (2008), Fiddler on the Roof (2008), Funny Girl (2009) in Deal, NJ and Phoenix Productions Fiddler on the Roof in 2007, for Freehold Township High School in 2004 for Cabaret, 2005 for Godspell, 2006 for Pirates of Penzance, Sweet Charity in 2007, Peter Pan in 2008 and Seussical in 2009. She plays in the orchestra at many local theatres including Algonquin Arts (Oliver, Spamalot) Phoenix Productions (My Fair Lady, Music Man, Damn Yankees) the Strand and others.
Ms. Fredericks played keyboards for Spring Lake Theatre's production of Scrooge in 2006 and was Musical Director for Spotlight Productions 100 years of Broadway in 1999. She worked as accompanist at the Academy of Dance Arts in Red Bank and has been on the faculty of the Count Basie Theatre's Performing Arts Academy since 2001.
Mrs. Fredericks has performed as a soprano and pianist at the Jersey Shore Arts Center in Neptune and "Opera at the Beach" in Bradley Beach. In 2002 she presented a lecture/recital as part of the Monmouth County Library's music series entitled "Operetta and Victorian Song", and has appeared in many recitals as part of the "Honoring Women Composers" series. She has been a soprano soloist and member of the Arcadian Chorale for 14 years. Mrs. Fredericks is a member of the New Jersey and National Music teachers Associations and the Shore Music Educators, and maintains private piano and voice studios at Monmouth Academy of Musical Arts in Morganville, and in the home she shares with her husband in Colts Neck.
